Dr. Mark Hanby on Spiritual Recreation

We generally think of recreation as engaging in some enjoyable activity outside of the normal rigors of our routine lives. These activities vary depending on age and physical ability. Some love camping, fishing, hiking, bicycling, etc. while others consider reading, movies or cheering for Tim Tebow a great and fulfilling pastime. All of these are fine, but don’t forget about your mind! Chess, checkers, crossword, scrabble and various other family games are also beneficial. In all of these various pursuits don’t forget that prayer and scriptural meditation re-create the spirit. Sometime today, close the door and turn off the TV. Think on His grace and goodness.

We really have to make quiet time for ourselves. This is an area that I struggle with and probably most others do too, but it is in this quiet time that the Lord speaks loudest to us. Fishing in my boat alone, is one of my favorite quiet times. Sometimes, I don’t even care if I get a lure in the water or not. Jesus and me just like to sit in the boat and talk.

Maybe we should challenge ourselves to spending an equal amount of time socializing and interacting on Quantum Life as we do on other social networks! :)

The article by Alan Zimmerman has caught my attention. I am struggling at the moment as I have been asked to do something that will add even more to my already full load. I am hearing that ‘If God didn’t tell you do to it, don’t do it!” (Thanks Poppa Mark!) Dickey, maybe I need a boat. Blessings to all.

Today we spent time at the Navy training center in Chicago as David’s son (Kyle Sanders) graduated boot camp. Such an honor to be a part of an awesome event. Very delightful time spent with a large amount of people. Met several different families from all over the USA. We are very proud. Thank you God for your hand upon his life.
